TFT Screen Cleaning

My screen has a permanent smear and I can’t remove it, I have tried everything from white wine vinegar to washing up liquid and nothing works
Any tips please

I tried to take a picture but it doesn’t show on a phone camera

You are not the only one! I think I might have 'cracked it' though recently when I had some good results using some proprietary computer/tablet/mobile screen cleaning spray.

Computer screen cleaner and a microfibres cloth.
Once clean a screen protector stops the smears looking as bad.

Worth having a go with autoglym fast glass glass. Its not just for glass but perspex, acrylic and plastic. I use it on visors, the windshield, sat nav and the TFT, excellent stuff.

if the smears aren't too bad i've also give a screen protector a go ( as said above ), it will more than likely mask any slight smears on the screen. I've got them on the sat nav and the lcd screen. Both are matte and make cleaning very easy. i got these off amazon, good quality and wont break the bank, 2 in the pack so if you balls it up you can have another go.

Try toothpaste or cerium oxide.
Then apply the screen protector.

I looked at my wife's iPhone the other day and commented the the screen was cracked. She said it was the screen protector that was cracked - I got confused and shut up!!

Somebody could have been a bit over enthusiastic with a microfibre cloth and left some marks. I’ve heard that Poly Watch is a good product to help repair the damage, you can get it from Amazon

Thanks guys for all your comments I have tried all of the products adviced apart from toothpaste which worries me a lot. There is no screen protector already fitted.
I tried the brake cleaner which slightly helped but the smear is still visible

That's a shame.

I managed to drop a nasty blob of roof sealer on my screen and it left a nasty stain that nothing would shift, i ended up using multisolve which cleans all sorts of gooey mess. It cleared it no problem, only thing is i had a screen protector already on so i'm not sure how it might react on the screen itself, i'd do test first with a cotton bud on a tiny bit of a corner first just to see if it leaves any marks. If its a residue on your screen of some sort i'd say it will lift it but if something has etched into the surface that's another story. Its encouraging if brake cleaner improved things as that would suggest its a residue of some sort and thats exactly what multisolve is for, its not cheap but its got a lot of other uses elsewhere so its not a waste of money if it doesn't do the trick.

I had some minor stains on mine (before the protector) from water and/or bike cleaner splash that i couldn't shift. They are hardly noticeable but they were there, once i got the screen protector on i gave you the link to i cant see them at all now.

My teeth are covered in enamel and my screen is not

Used Meths to clean smears off our TFTs. Works well.

Not sure what you have done to your screen then, meths works well for rain and washing blemishes.
