TFT screen dead

The display looks great and best of all it was free :) just a few irritations, e.g. resetting the trip meters is a faff compared to the old way.

I guess you might say it reflects life in general.

You may take the safe route and kiss your sister,
or
you can go for the exiting and hot chick, not knowing what you are in for, but with the prospect of a wonderful time.

I fear kissing your sister as an option may be a Norwegian thing.....

I've just returned from a 3000 mile run to southern Spain and back. Didn't see a cloud whilst I was away, and temps up to 33C, anyway, more to the point. My 2 week old GSA Rallye performed faultlessly. Specifically the TFT. Phone, Media and Bike to bike was fantastic. No issues at all. I was happily impressed.
It did have the latest software on it when collected. I even used the TFT Nav. (I have a NAV 5) Basic as it is, It worked fine. I just opened the BMW app, clicked on the map where i wanted to go, Opened the TFT nav,and there it was, Then navigated to it.
In the seat for 12 hours a day, the phone and sena lasted all day. The bike to bike is amazing. great range and simplicity in its use.

Whereas my mate Enginerelight of this parish is away on his first trip on his new GS TE and the TFT has failed ! Great start to GS ownership for him.
How have BMW fucked up so bad when the likes of KTM can get it right ???

Trip sounds great, glad to hear TFT was faultless...my two week old GSA with TFT has also been faultless.

Looks like Engineer got a dud, dodgy screen and handlebars.................:rob

I actually like the Anekee 3's, Got 10K out of my last rear. Cant hear the noise they throw up from the front as Adele drowns it out !

I am very very jealous. Is that the Milau Viaduct in the picture?
I can get music and NAV from the TFT but hear nothing on calls. Tried everything so far just dead air on calls.
Even have the NAV V and TFT paired simultaneously to my headset and phone with smartlink giving the NAV traffic and speed alerts while the TFT gives me speed limit and music if I do wish.

Pretty widespread issue, make sure to have your TFT updated at the delaership and that your headset firmware is up to date.

Do NOT pair the TFT AND the Nav. Just the TFT. Pairing the Nav causes issues, Is unnecessary and BMW quite clearly say dont.
Also my Cardo didn't work, But the sena 20s Evo 4 bluetooth does.

Yes its the Millau Viaduct, Ridden over it countless times, but never under it. The single road under is nice too, with a small bridge to cross the river.

The bike is only 3 weeks old so I probably foolishly thought it was on the latest. I will check it. Though they did assure me I was on the latest

Ahh didn’t see anywhere not to do it. If I don’t then I can’t hear direction prompts from my NAV.

It didn’t work even with no NAV in place. I have a scala rider so I think that must be the issue. Funny how music etc comes through but calls don’t.

I went on that same small road under it in 2012. Some nice roads around there with switchbacks down into the valleys.

Ref the Software. If its the latest one it will be animated ! and say ABS Pro on startup.
My Scala was BT3, The TFT requires BT4, so I binned the scala and bought the Sena. Works brilliantly

I did not find a reference in any official BMW communication of interoperability between new TFT Kombi and Nav 6 or in house Communication System 2.0, or lack thereof, do you remember where you saw they advise against? People reported success with headsets with a dedicated second channel you can use for GPS, aforementiontioned BMW sourced Comm system can't unfortunately, at least, I was not able to make it work :-(

Screen animations and ABS logo are dead giveaway but it might be useful to check the software version also, as different versions of the latest March update seems to float around (001_15_060 and 001_15_090). Most if not all initial "buggy" versions where 001_11_081.

Yeah, Cardo units have(had) issues all across the board re the sound during phone calls, even Schuberth SRC for the C3pro, that was a disguised Scala anyways (Not tried again since the update tho). Not sure it's strictly BT version related as the connection clearly works otherwise(music), and I have read somewhere that people got ahold of Cardo people that stated that a fixed firmware they were working on was in the works.
