Being the repositry of advice I`ve come to rely on over the years I thought I`d ask for any opinions before I `dive in` :bow

I`ve had three of the lads contact me asking if there is any security device that might mke the TFT screens harder to pinch - I`ve also been told that a Glasgow dealer has had to replace quite a number of screens that have been pinched.

Although I feel gutted for the three lads who have had their screens pinched (my thoughts on thieves are known ) if this isn`t an isolated case then I think my time might be well spent seeing if I can come up with some sort of security `brace`?

As always I would welcome, respect and consider any thoughts!

I saw a recent Facebook post about this exact thing! Would be interesting to see what you could come up with Mark!

Whats the point stealing these TFT Screens?

I thought they were 'coded' and ECU specific?

I suppose it's no different than people still stealing iPhones that are "virtually" impossible to get into without locking them out completely.

Not that I'm doubting the truth of the report/s but TFT screens have been around for a few years, is this a recent spate or has it been going on for some time; if so, why haven't we heard about this before?

maybe they just figured out now how to unmarry them from the ECU...

I really don`t know - mebbe the thieving scum have only just learnt how to `unlock` or `uncode` them?

Mark, I imagine you’ve already considered something along these lines, but what about something like a frame made of channel section which fits around the edges of the TFT, with some sort of bolt or cable tether attaching the rear of the TFT frame to somewhere on the bike’s frame?

Yes I’ve got a few things in mind, I did do an anti theft brace for the XR and RR clocks so I’m going to do something along those lines - it’s gotta look ‘different’, be as expensively made as possible but still be a fair price.

No pressure then....... :)

No more than we’ve come to expect from you and your colleagues!

It just occurred to me that a securing frame might obstruct the ambient light sensor - if it's near the edge of the screen or on the side of the TFT unit. Does anyone know where the sensor is?

Actually I did but I’ve forgotten (because I drink so much :)

You are right tho - it’s near the edge, if I get a moment during the week I’ll confirm it but it might be easily spotted in the manual?

I looked for info on the sensor location in the manual and online - I found nothing in the manual and online all I found was contradictory and argumentative :blagblah
