TFT TPMS reading with Nav6

Hey all, not a whinge more of a musing. Never really used the Nav6 for anything but sat nav but today was picking my other half up and thought I'd flick through the information screens and noticed that the tyre pressures are both exactly 0.5 PSI down on what the TFT says which I thought odd as I figured (perhaps wrongly) that the link into the bike was just a data feed that the Nav displays what it's told to. Anyway, thought it was odd is all, I'll probably never use those screens again anyway haha

I could be miss remembering this but I believe the TFT shows a temperature corrected (or somehow corrected) reading.
The nav is then showing the actual reading.

Strange that front and rear are both out by the same amount.
My Nav V and old style (non TFT) clocks always read the same pressure; Both are temperature corrected. I think the sensor unit in the tail unit does the calculations; ie, upstream of the clocks/sat nav.

Pretty certain that Bar to PSI can be changed in the settings menu

Just change the units from imperial to metric or versa vice on the device. Useful as it allows you to have all sorts of options eg speed on the Nav in Kph, but mph down below.

Even though I wasn't expecting a response to my slightly tongue in cheek Tweet, BMW UK have responsed with this:

Good afternoon Paul

Thanks for your enquiry. I’ve been looking into this for you with our technical team.

They confirmed the difference between the two displays is down to a unit conversion process.

The tyre pressure sensors only communicate an electrical value. This is then received by an electronic control unit (computer processor) and translated into a pressure value.

The rider can then see this value on the TFT - they can also change the unit of measurement to display in Bar, PSI or kPa.

When the measurements are changed into different units, each device uses a conversion value to different decimal points (e.g. the rough conversion from bar to psi is 1:14.5). But, a more accurate conversion factor is 14.503773773.

This process causes the differences in the values from the TFT display of the bike to the Navigator unit in the cradle.

Unfortunately, BMW's response is quite poor:

35.1 PSI / 14.5 = 2.420689655 Bar x 14.503773773 = 35.10913512 PSI

So the difference represented by their response only accounts for less than 0.01 PSI and not the 0.5 PSI that you are seeing.....
