My 2 year and 3 week old BMW old tank bag broke. My fault for thinking it was a one year warranty instead of 2 years. 
Called Mr. Dealer and asked would he mind calling BMW and perhaps asking for an exception. Dealer said no point since BMW are very very firm on warranties for accessories with German precision. It was clear the dealer wasn't going to do anything, I guess it was tea time 
, so I called myself. 24 hours later very nice lady from BMW called and said Mr. NLC we would be pleased to replace your tank bag. Interesting that said dealer completely had a relapse of memory forgetting that they put wrong brake pads in bike which caused rear disc to be below legal spec and tried to talk their way out of it until it was verified by a third party. Interesting also that BMW were surprised that the dealer actually didn't even bother to phone them and at least ask. Moral of the story mistakes happen how you fix them is what matters.
