Hooray for the forum. 
Had no ABS since a big off last december, intermittent flashing ABS lights. Did a search and found the relevant bits. Went into garage and earthed the brown/blue wire, held the button for a while, turn off ignition, turn it back on and hey presto ABS restored. There are some good amounts of knowledge out there. How someone worked this one out I don't know, but thankyou all the same.
