They are a good bag :thumb2 I used the earlier version for thousands of miles, rain and shine. Left it on the bike 24/7, often full of goodies. Nobody ever tampered with it.

ta for that. i think i will adopt the same approach that my wife uses when buying shoes. that being to buy said shoes - remove labels - place in wardrobe- leave in wardrobe for a few days/weeks - take out of wardrobe and claim to have had them ages and the reason i havent seen them before is because she hasnt worn them much.

:blast So that's how my wife has been doing it for all these years

In answer to some of the questions, the cost to change was £5,500 and is always more than was expected. Having said that I am chuffed to bits with the new bike, the first 300 miles have past and I only got it finished for the road on Friday. First service Monday week I reckon.
The rear bag is indeed Touratech and pillions only get carried in emergencies.
Most of the accesories fitted have been on my last three bikes which is the beauty of the GS. The crash bars and Sargent seat for example are 6 years old. One of the key reasons for not waiting for the water cooled version due next year.
The mudguard and hugger are white because they were blue on the last bike so had to be changed to something else and I don't like carbon and I just can't do black. Same with the beak. I think like to spot my bike in the sea of clone GS's that seem to be predominently grey or black. I guess it is simply each to their own. Also I didn't want to alter the Rallye scheme in a way that could not be put back as it was. The original black mudguard, the seats and the screen will all go into storage until the bike is changed, which could be some time.
Lastly it was definitely me in Ride as already spotted by several of the more observant. For no other reason than I completed the survey in the past and they asked me my opinion on the bike which I was happy to give.

The white hugger and mudguard do look OTT at first but then you get used to them . I do think that it if the fenda extender was left black thoough it wouldnt look quite so odd.

Nice bike though, not seen a Rallye in the flesh yet ..... enjoy. :thumb

I like the fact that you have managed to move so many bits of kit over from your old bike.

Paintwork done for all three bikes by:

Always a first class job

Looks like they've got a couple of your old bikes on their website already!

Thanks for the details - I will give them a call.:thumb2

Green Stickers?

I don’t get the colour scheme at all and my reaction to both bikes is best summed-up by the words of Colonel Walter E Kurtz with, “The Horror.....”

With the exception of an after-market exhaust system which is more to do with performance than looks (ok, and a bit of extra noise), I prefer to keep my bikes unmolested.

However, I do appreciate the craftsmanship and acknowledge the meticulous treatment of the red, blue and white paint scheme. After all of that cost and obsession, what I don’t quite get is why you’d deviate from the scheme by putting two horrible looking green stickers in the most prominent positions available. I assume that you passed the test, but why break all of that effort in the colour scheme to advertise the fact?

You should know I don't give a rat's arse about your opinion and your comments just make you seem like a pompous twat. If you haven't got anything worthwhile to say you might like to consider not saying it at all.

Nice one, except for the reference to rats of course ;) :D

If you like it, then that's just fine.

'Spose everyone is entitled to their opinion though, even if their opinion is just well "Horrid" :D

Difficult questions, too difficult to answer......

Forgive me if my comment sounded a bit pompous, but you did put photos of your new and somewhat unusual bike on the site and stated, ".....I thought I would update you all on the new one which arrived on 2nd. As you can see it is a Rallye but as you know I can't resist personalising it just a teeny weeny bit". Now if that's not a cry for comments, I don't know what is.

Considering the extreme makeover and fact that you've announced it to the world, my question was reasoned and, in my opinion, perfectly valid. Why would someone go to all of that expense and effort for a total red, white and blue paint job the and then put two green stickers in the most obvious places possible?

If you don't you don't like genuine and courteous questions or are too embarassed to answer difficult ones, then don't post. Oh, and mind your language; we might have child subscribers!
