the best hand guards?

Same here I've just smashed the brackets on mine again.



Apparently the BMW retro fit kit is £90 (new style guards), or Touratech ones about the same but they look shitely made. Only these retain the bar end weights.

They're too small I have my bars tilted slightly forward and down, with the levers tilted down as well for more comfort when off roading. It means the hand guards are low and offer no protection from the elements at all.

Quite fancy the touratech hand protectors with the large spoilers added, but at £160 for some plastic, they are taking the piss big time!!

The newer style hand guards are 2 piece. BMW sell a larger upper part which replaces the standard grey piece.

You'd need the retro fit kit, and the larger upper pieces so it would work out quite expensive. I think it cost me about £90 for the kit, and about £25 for the larger upper parts.

If you take your off roading so seriously that you need better hand guards, I'd say you're on the wrong bike.

I trial regularly on a Beta Rev-3 through some pretty dense wooded areas... and wearing pukka gloves i have never had so much as a scratch.
And with respect to protection from the element IMHO there less than bloody useless.

It's not that I take off roading so serious, just that I like going off road as much as riding on road. Personally, I find the stock set up is not comfortable for off road riding, so I moved things around so that the set up is just right for me. The downside is that the handgaurds are now too low down to provide any protection from cold wind and the elements when riding on the road....Simples What I need is bigger hand guards, hence my original question

Couldn't agree more. Have taken mine off, and to my surprise difference hardly noticeable. You're better off investing in warm and/or waterproof gloves.
In the same way warm gloves (i.e. good insulation) are the first step for warm fingers. Heated grips are the second step.

Better standard hand gaurds for weather/wind protection?? after owning a Triumph Tiger, first aftermarket part fitted were Touratech spoilers, now as good as the Triumph ones.
