The Enemy

interesting, found myself useing a Restricted Byway on Sunday, its a VERY WIDE CHALK ROAD other side of Salisbury, very open and must be 1,00000000 of years a road

Its a well used dumping ground for FLYTIPERS, NEW sign up saying RESTICTED BYWAY, and all rubbish gone.

So the FLYTIPERS are taking notice but not me

Starnge how agricultural vehicles causing damage to the areas shown isn't mentioned  Maybe they want farmers to use horse and carts again?

BOAT

on their Q&A a slightly biased definition of a BOAT me thinks

Byway Open To All Traffic (BOAT):
A carriageway, i.e. a right of way for vehicular traffic, but one which is used mainly for the purpose for which footpaths and bridleways are used, i.e. by walkers and horse riders:rolleyes:

they make me sick.

these people are great, they shut down the lanes which then get so overgrown nothing can get down them. yes some lanes get a little churned up by 4x4's and bikes but as in other parts of europe thats down to responsible off roaders to stay away from the really wet boggy trails.
I've always taken the approach of ride where you think its legal, make sure your numberplate is nice and muddy:thumb and don't go over the same ground twice, and never ever get into a confontation with a walker. just keep moving.:thumb

GLEAM seeks to achieve its objective:

1. By lobbying Parliament for a change in legislation to extend the distinction between motorised and non-motorised vehicles (as exists for restricted byways) to unsurfaced tracks where motor vehicular rights currently exist, and which are vulnerable to damage from such use.

This is the one that got me. Vehicles have no rights to ride along footpaths, bridleways or RUPPs, Gleam now want to take away the rights for unsurfaced roads. Selfish does not even come near. There are footpaths and bridleways criss crossing almost any map I open, there is the right to roam, why do they want to stop 4x4 and bikes enjoying the very few ROW there are left.
If they don't want to get their boot dirty why don't they just pressure the council to pave all the footpaths?
But hey its Friday and Le weekend is almost here:roll
