Now and again, a story tells what can be done if you don’t just sit on your hands moaning.

I was much taken with Sister Bernadette’s “I have been obedient all my life, but it was too much”, obedience in her case being to the scriptures and, I suppose, ‘A good life, well lead”. Equally, taken by her: “Before I die in that old people's home, I would rather go to a meadow and enter eternity that way”.

Hopefully, a compromise of some sort can be reached, before it’s too late.

I read this today in the Independant. Absolutely raised my mood.
I very much doubt that they would but I’d like to think of them flipping the bird to anyone who wants them out. Long may they live!

I saw the news featurette on the BBC news this morning and couldn't help but smile and think to myself "good for them".

Elderly Nuns being disrespected by the authorities who claim to know better and "have only their best interests at heart" - patronising civil servant types I suspect.

How long before Hollywood makes a movie of it in a Sound Of Music style homage ??

Great story. I read it this morning, all in their 80s and determined to live out their lives as they want to.

Great story. Saw it on the news this morning.
Best of luck to them.

Considering how religious a large number of Austrians still are the nuns will get plenty of support from the local community , think it is great that they are giving the middle finger to the Catholic Churched Hierachy

Great news story!
They sound proper nuns unlike the vicious nuns that beat my 5 year old hands with a wooden ruler at our lady of the sacred heart RC school in Blackburn.
