As I can't post pictures yet please try to stick with the monologue 🤞
The R65 is fitted with Triumph Sprint 955i 43mm Yokes/triple tree and forks including Triumph ST clip ons, the 17" wheel and tyre are also fitted but I have the option of fitting a Triumph 18" if handling is eh... interesting. The stem is a perfect length but obviously I had to use bearings with different internal dimensions, nevertheless the other dimensions were present and correct... right here comes the fun bit-
Races simply would not sit correctly as they were slightly "squared off" in comparison to BMW races. I fitted two new BMW races, my custom Top bearing sits beautifully within this race, however the bottom bearing seems to make the lower bearing shallow. The bearing seems very "conical" so it appears to protrude too much. Confusion reigns, my options are K100 and skim to 43mm but really don't want to do this. Any ideas? Possibly I will have to up membership and post pictures. Cheers 👍

Have you considered a custom steering stem ?

One that would fit the Triumph bottom yoke but take stock BMW bearings.

I have used Cranford engineering in Ashstead, Surrey to make me a custom front axle for a project. Superb job and despite what they say, always turn stuff round fast.

The owner Paul, knows his stuff and is bike friendly.
