Onto the town itself.

Its a beautiful place and well worth a stop off or overniter.

Weather still fab so theres lots of tourists and therefore totty bimbling about, however I'm on a mission to be a total spotter........

After some Apfelstrudel and coffee and a good bimble about its back to the bike and off to ride the route (ish) of the bike chase............

As I say, a lovely town Fussen.......

Obviously with the magic of Hollywood the bike chase is filmed non sequentially and in various places, but all within about 15 mins of Fussen.

Ill post the pics in time line of film.

First off need to garrott some German rider and blag his bike...........

Leg it but come across the Hun in a village.

Decide best plan of action is to kick the guy who challenges me in the nuts and leg it again.........

Kick in nuts despatched.........I'll head off to the hills on way to Switzerland......

I'm really enjoying your trip report; keep it coming please.
You appear to be having much better weather than I got early June last year!

The next most famous part, the jump, was a bit of a pisser as to ride to spot was not possible as its now fenced as part of private farm

I spoke to farmer and walked the last 0.5 mile to the spot.

Again its been worked on so cant really find the depression Budd Eakin used to jump the wire, but hey I got as close as possible

Thanks Khulu.

Yes was blessed. Got pissed on large style day 2 on way Harz and then again in Baden Baden on way back.

Other than that it was all blue and about 22 deg. Perfect

Thats about it for the Great Escape stuff.

Route back was along the great Stanzach road again then generally NW towards Rotterdam.

Stayed in the river valley near Cologne on way back after getting soaked in Baden Baden.

The hotel I booked was on the northern side of the large river valley so I followed GPS to the bridge marked..........wrong answer no bridge.

The ferry was shut so I was faced with about a 45 min ride to get across further along..........bollocks.

As I'm looking at alternate routes a chap bimbles out of nearby hotel and tells me the best way, he then reveals hes actually the ferry pilot.

Cue some Bel Vita action and he gives me a VIP crossing for free.

Top man.
