News flash!
A small group of Irish Loons (half the MAG Irl National commit eee) on various non GS motorcycles are known to be heading to Wales on Saturday 7th of May.
Intelligence suggests their plan of attack is to do the touristy thing and visit Port Meirion (sp?) “I am not a prisoner etc”
Upon exiting this architectural folly, they will be seeking sustenance in the form of lunch.
Then the worrying part; we’re…I mean they will seek out new (to them) roads of delight, twisties, turnies and upsies and downsies. (note the use of technical terms) to enable the lunch to digress.

The tour leader – the one true biker among them, though he knows Wales quite well is seeking out new paths to enlightenment.
So, any knowledge of wonderous roads and delightful eating houses within a day trips distance of HoleInTheHead Island would be much appreciated.
Times;
Dep; Holy Island about 9.00
Ret; to the ferry about 19.30?

**damnit! - just sussed (yes - i AM an eejit) thats theres a large contingent of GSers in the vicinity at the same time! - feckit, if i'd known i'd have arranged a meet up. unlikely to be time now.**
 :( :( :(
Og.
i apologise to the sheep in advance

You could always join in with us here, Llangollen is only an hour from Hollyhead ferry and all the rides start at 10:00

yeah, but..
You could always join in with us
yeah, *I* would love to - but the group wants to see Port Meirion first and hooking up later would be a pain for all.
Trouble is the Leprachauns will need to stay the night to sample the delights of real Ale,
too true!;) ..and we aint got THAT much time off the leash!
Probably rather more than they'd want to share a room with you Rob
Stella - sadly i shall have to miss your feminine charm, your wit and you give such good text too!;)
p.s; the industrial strength 5 gallon tub of Immac is in the post.
ahem...enough crawling - i'm off.:D

Oh, you have met her then

no, actually...i just got a worryingly good (bad?) and vivid imagination!;)
Hey - any tips / advice / words of wisdom / local knowledge on our Wales trip?
we're off tomorrow and hope not to see scameras and the like.
but will be seeking a decent lunch stop.

leader of the (wool) pack.

If its North Wales expect lots of scameras and police for the next few weekends.

I think your trip co-incides with the annual Rally of Wales which I think starts at Welshpool.

Not sure if you'd be pursued if your on Irish plate for fines or points.

Enjoy:beer:

ho hum...

i kinda expected a heavy presence of cameras and revenue collectors;) . but we shouldn't (famous last words?) attract attention if we're doing it right - i.e; enjoying the twisties and being civilised on the boring straights.
well thats the idea anyhow:)
Welshpool - we should be nowhere near (unless they let me navigate - i'm lousy at that:D )
true - IRL plates do help a little;)
Thanks for that PW, appreciate the feedback mate.

phew!...been busy lately - no, it didnt take me this long to recover from our trip:P .
Thanks folks for the info and tips, we had a really nice time, no stress nor hassles from cameras or anything else. Great roads, brilliant surfacing compared to what we're used to over here, nice cafe in Bala (and saw a fair few GS's buzzing through the town too) only time we saw any Police was two local cars together - as we headed back for the ferry...but we woz very well behaved anyhow...no - Really!

Anyhow - we will be back. the "Junior Lemons" in the group loved it so much (partly due to Mrs Ogs devious route planning - wow! she should've planned rally routes!) they want to do it again....
SOON!
Og.
