Ready to be heading East
Friday was once again travel day, and a well trodden route was once again travelled. Chester, Wrexham, Oswestry, Welshpool, Newtown. Here we (Kirst was with me) were going to go for a play but increasingly shitty weather encouraged us to just get there, so... Llandrindod Wells, Buith Wells, Beulah and L.W. We settled into the hostel and then went for a pint. The Rev James was well on form. Met up with both old and new friends and then bed. Though there were those who wanted to huddle together incase any of the locals fancied them (notice i didn't say local women!!)
Next morning was a bit of a disaster as people took their time in arriving at the departure point but as we were only riding the southern part of the northern route, time wasn't really a problem.
What was a problem was brekkie- i was famished. To make things worse the EVIL Andy Melton took us the long route to the fist stop to try and make a bit of the time back. Awesome scenery was to be enjoyed when i could divert my attention away from my stomach. After brekkie at the Elan Visitor Centre, Kirst and myself went West across the Aberystwyth Mountain Road, while the others went East. Tal-y Bont, Devil's Bridge, Tregaron, Abergwestyn, all came and went as we bimbled across the Welsh countryside. After a snackette at the West End Cafe in Llandovery, it was the short hop back to L.W. and the pub.
Kirst and myself just bought a bottle of wine and sat quietly in the hostel. While the others were popping in and out.
Sunday was the southern route and Andy once again came up with the goods culmulating in a farewell coffee at The Royal an Aussie/Kiwi run hotel just outside Monmouth.
A couple of hours after parting we were back on home territory, after a great weekend
