The Lego brick??

OK I give up. What the hell are you meant to do with the blue Lego brick icon that appears every time I want to open something on a web site?

I click on it and it suggetsts downloading Adobe or something so I click ok and so on and bugger all appears.

What am I doing wrong please?

It's most probably Adobe Flash Player - a plugin that's used all over the web for animations, fancy buttons, videos, menus and all sorts of stuff.

Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and click the "Agree and install now" button.

Went to the download and was instructed to close Firefox before I can download.
So how do I download if I use Firefox??

You're ok to download with Firefox open, because as you say 'how else?', that's what I did. You just need to close FF before you actually install Flashplayer. If it gives you the choice between 'run' or 'save' when you click download, choose 'save'. When download finishes, close FF and then double-click on the downloaded Installation File.

....and was expecting an icon on the desktop that I'd click on and follow the destructions but all I can see is the old Adobe 8 version icon that I think was already there.

Does it make a difference that I'm using Vista? (I still hate Vista btw )

Eventually found the download (I think) and now working. Well it did for the first one anyway.
