Yours for £1299 for the jacket .Tried the jacket at Infinity in Fan. Heavy jacket but comfy , the armour molds on the body .Looks good to but at that price comes only in standard size ( the one in the shop is 52 ) , made to order add 25%:eek:

Interesting ... 52 is the largest off the peg size (its available in 12 sizes), with extra charge for the extra material included in this one!

I seriously considered this a year or two ago, I was in Finland on a trip and got the group I was with to detour to the 'factory shop' (about 100km out of our way), aiming to buy at much reduced prices (and more importantly, where a selection was available!). Found the shop, looked around in vain, only to be told that the factory shop stocked all Rukka clothing *except* motorcycle clothing ...

With the euro purchase, factory shop, etc it would have made it an expensive purchase, but not outlandish ... I hoped!

I'm just loath to lay out that sort of money in the UK where selection and fit is difficult. I've bought Daytona and Schuberth previously thru http://www.biker-land.de/, who are also Rukka dealers .... good delivery, no problems ... might be worth a try (or a trip!)

HG and lots of other manufacturers use the stuff (or something very similar), as do car manufacturers and a host of other 'safety' bods. It works, arguably better than 'hard' armour that shifts on impact (if it's not fitted properly) or has been known to dig in, edge on, breaking shoulders etc. and / or shatter at high enough impact speeds. Though, the shock of hitting something hard enough to shatter hard armour will probably have killed you anyway.

We insure the product liability for one of the licensed manufacturers. In short...it works, well enough.

I am going to have a look at the new jacket in Sweden. The rate of exchange GBP to SEK may make it worth it, especially if I can find a friendly non-EU national to take it out, tax free......
 
Forcefield armour is a very similar type of stuff, very comfy compared to the traditional hard armour ... Infinity stock it if you want to take a look.

The suit comes in at £2500 ,which makes the leathers a bargain . Acording to the sales chap , a large portion of the cost is the protection . The back protector alone is £400 . I have to find out what is so special about this armour .

...Rukka stuff is not cheap but so far is the best stuff I bought by a country mile.

I bought the A-Tech suit from the German website above, who service was first class.

I have just driven through the winter without having to fit the trouser liners.

...I'm still amazed as to how quickly this stuff dries, no matter how wet the weather has been on my 100 mile commute.

...Now saving up for a pair of gloves as my HG failed me numerious times during the winter, even though replacements waiting for me at the shop

Never yet had a glove thats stayed weather proof for more than 12 months...

I'll second that :thumb2 I have a pair of their 'padded pants' for off-roading and once on the armour moulds itself to you. I forget that I've got them on.

It's very strange stuff; if you squeeze it slowly between your fingers it compresses almost like foam. If you suddendly push down on it, it instantly goes rigid - very impressive.

I'm certain that if I totalled-up the cost of the various suits, individual jackets & trousers and add on the over-suits, that the amount I have spent on the current stuff that I use to meet the varying conditions in which I ride, the sum would exceed the cost of this suit. :eek:

The trouble is; I still don't believe that the "one suit for all conditions" exists.

Even if I could get all the money back that I've spent on my current gear, I don't think I'd risk it all on one suit. Experience has taught me that even gear that looks as though it meets my needs is a compromise somewhere. I can live with those compromises in a £500 jacket but I think that I'd have difficulty doing so in one that's more than twice the price.
 
Checking over my Rukka APR3 suit after the Turkey Trot, i noticed the soft back protector has started to fall apart, not good:(

Only 4 years old though so a warrantee claim will be submitted ASAP.

Interesting to see peoples views on this and your dead right that the "one suit for all conditions doesn't exist"

What's more frustrating is that it's entirely possible to create one, if only manufacturers would recognise the demand for such a product
All it would take is a high quality garment such as Rukka or Kushitani etc with Gore-Tex Pro shell laminate to also have huge ventilations flaps which can be properly weather sealed when required (would only need to have labyrinth closure)

As a retailer, the most flexible kit I've found to allow riding off-road as well as road in the Difi Ventura, whilst I think it's great (especially for the price) it lacks build quality and abrasion resistance (it has a lightweight outer shell)

The Rukka S.R.O Anatomic does incorporate the latest technology to good use but there's not many people who would be willing to pay that much for something which isn't suited to riding in very hot conditions (sweating buckets riding off-road)
Without large amounts of ventilation the Gore-Tex and other 3 layer laminates are limited in that the waterproof liner cannot be removed therefore it's too hot
