I thought some of you would quite like to see some of the pictures....
Location: Terling ford, Essex
Time & date: Sunday 08/05/05 around 2 pm.

We had a lovely ride in the morning (Colchester - Finchingfield - Thaxted - Dunmow) and lateron decided we should go and checkout a ford I recently discovered.....

The pictures tell the rest of the story....
we considered various options for a long time in the end Dr Alf was brave enought to try it but failed miserably!!!
What a laugh it was!!

We will defintly go back and try again - but maybe we wait for the level to drop just a tiny bit!!

Cheers,

Sorry Span, but you should look at this one on WWW.wetroads.co.uk in the Buckingham section. I have seen it but never tried it. I will wait until the next long dry spell then have another look

'Situated in Ford Lane, an awesome ford only for the bravest 4x4! The crossing goes between two islands and I estimate it at 80 meters across. It is about 1.5 foot deep , very smooth gravel bottom, 50 yds wide easy entry and exit ramps. There is a footbridge upstream for those not brave enough to drive through. Fixed to a tree on one of the islands is a possibly unofficial “FLOOD” sign !! All this within 500 meters of the M25!'

Top effort Dr Alf!!:clap
Looks like you weren't far off needing a persicope!!!
Hope the bike is ok:eek

Cheers
Steve

Just cross posted this in the "show us yours" section - sorry:rolleyes:

Bike seems to be OK - we checked the airbox and air intake and both were dry. Going to change all the oils before the weekend though.

Leathers and boots are still drying out:D

Hopefully see some of you on Thursday:thumb

TERLING FORD

I entered the Terling Pram race as a kid. I remember that you have to stick to the left as it's shallower. During the
race the locals used to line up on the bank and throw old veg at you as you went through. Probably not allowed anymore incase some poor kid gets injured !

Those going on the SW Fords ride this weekend will be encountering the wonders of Wookey! Not quite as deep but much.... much.... much.... longer!!!

If the airbox was dry, perhaps the plug caps leak.

So you're saying that I should have removed the plugs and then turned it over a few times right?
