The New BMW Scooters are a Blast !!!

Hard to justify £10k

Been riding a T-Max 250 for a few weeks to see whether I could get into the Superscoot thing - and in short, yes I can.

The storage, weather protection and mpg make the 3 compelling arguments for me - but there are plenty of others.

So I think about getting a C650 until I spot the reviews of the new Piaggio X10 in the press. Italian design and looks bloody gorgeous!
MCN, Ride and every other journo reviewing this are all saying the same - How can BMW charge twice the price for a scooter that does only a little more??

I know the BMW fans will holler about it being faster, etc. etc., but the whole point is scooters are all about 0-30. And in that, there's little difference.

Mine's ordered. :thumb2

Had a ride on the 650 Sport today :thumb

Smooth and fast. Took some getting used to, not having ridden a twist and go very much. Fair took me by surprise, thought I was doing about fifty, in a fifty limit .... bloody eighty

At first I got the impression it didn't want to corner. Look at a corner and my F800GS and G650Xcountry does it for you, but the 650 Sport scooter didn't do anything until I made it ... soon settled down though and was soon hustling it round the corners like a sports bike ;)

It's a :thumb from me :)

No licence required ....

Yes, you do. If they can do upto 28mph - thay are classed as mopeds. Above 28pmh they are classed same as 125's. Same rules apply.

"The legal requirements pertaining to the use of electric mopeds are those that apply to 50cc mopeds. For use on the public highway they must be insured, road taxed (zero cost), have an MOT and the rider must be 16 years of age or over and hold either a full or provisional license allowing the riding of a moped. Electric motorcycles are considered equivalent to 125cc motorbikes. To ride a an electric motorcycle on the road you must be at least 17 years old and have a driving license that allows you to ride motorcycles (category A) or have completed Compulsory Basic Training (CBT). "

Cool :)

When do you get it?

Andres

So Picked mine up Friday in the Pissing rain , rode it home , Love it !!! . Stayed dry , handles well , bit harder than the T max , but quicker , and its not run in yet !! I went for the Hi Line so you can have lights on BLIND for day time which make SMIDSY's slightly less likely . Nice build quality ABS trip computer heated seat all the toys . I don't miss my GSA yet as I was hardly using it , an expensive garage ornament . One bike to do it all is liberating for me , and I have a few quid in the bank to squander on akra's for the bike , and waste on my kids student loans :D All in all a Happy bunny. I'll get some pictures up / report back when I've done a few miles . The ride to work today was fun though:thumb

Congrats on the new Beemer scoot...I could feel your excitement just by reading your posts. :D
They look kinda cool but I think I`ll be staying with my Burgie 650 Excutive and my Vespa PXs.
(Though I AM kind of tempted by the Aprilai SRV850 Ive just been lent while I get some paint fixed.....)

Enjoy your newbie, keep us posted and put up lots of pics. :thumb

I must admit that I thought the following quote rather a silly thing to say though....

Having daytime lights is bad enough anyway in my opinion, but to have them excessively bright or in a dazzling format is probably MORE likely to lead to someone driving out in front of you as they won`t be able to properly judge your distance and speed...and you know full welll they won`t ever wait for you to pass. :augie

Fair Point Tarka !! They are actually not that blinding , but make you a bit more visible , I was but Joshing !! Good to see you back on here , will post some pictures etc when I have time Cheers:beerjug:

No piccies , no reviews ?
Do you still have the scooter , would be interesting to get an owners perspective :D
