The new KTM 'Super Adventure'...

Personally i prefer the SD over the S1, the SD has the edge on build quality, ok it don't have all the electrics the bm has, but that has it minus and pluses however i like it a lot, the engine is manic, but a boring man will probably go with bm for the healthy return on selling.

I love this fixing thang :D

It's going to be a WC crusher :D

If it is cheaper than the GSA by enough of a margine I would have one, the only thing against it is it's value in a couple of years against the value of a Beemer

Really? Try telling that to the bike publication that has one on long term test. It's been back to KTM 3 times now with dodgy discs, oil leaks and may need a new engine.
Sounds like the build quality is the same as the BMW:D

I think I'll stick to my Italian bikes :P

177bhp with the KTM drivetrain that could be 140bhp @ RW...my mod'ed WC makes 120bhp @ RW and looks so much better IMO....so meh!!

Isn't BMW releasing the R1000 adv this year?

Loose 37bhp from the crank to the back wheel on a chain driven bike?

Funny boy :D

Hey, you can't come on here saying bad things about KTM's!:rob:P

You're not wrong, in the right hands the 30hp on paper advantage is telling :D

It was interesting in the Cotswolds with the chap on the 1190R.:augie Not much difference between the GS and 1190R in the real world.;)

Big Davy from Norn Iron will have something to say about all this...........so he will

Don't know about KTM super adv but GS stands up pretty well against 1190

that's because they are doing roll ons in the same gear. the bmw develops power lower in the rev range, so gets a better start. when the ktm gets in the power it catches up and overtakes.

apples and oranges.

the oranges have bigger grins though ;)

Give me low down grunt over top-end rev induced power any-day, on the roads i ride on that is. (Dales/Moors)

Mmmmmm 'cos a 1200cc v-twin has no low down grunt .......................

'tis all relative tha knows, I can assure you there is more than enough low down grunt, more than enough :)

i'd say the 1190 has plenty of grunt, just not quite so much low down as the WC. the thing is it has a rather wider rev range, and is shockingly quick towards the top of it :green gri

2015 KTM 1290 Super Adventure
With 131 horsepower and 80 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel, few would accuse KTM’s 1190 Adventure of being down on power. But for some, a lot of power just isn’t enough. And for those intrepid souls KTM will offer a larger-displacement model called the 1290 Super Adventure, which will be sold alongside the 1190 Adventure and 1190 Adventure R for the upcoming 2015 model year.
Read our 1190 Adventure review, 1190 Adventure R review or adventure-bike comparison.
The new model will not be officially announced until the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, on September 30, 2014, so for now, details are few and far between. But we’re confident that the Super Adventure will be powered by a version of the 1,301cc V-twin that powers the 1290 Super Duke R, which KTM claims makes 177.5 horsepower at the crank. That could mean well over 140 horsepower at the rear wheel for the Super Adventure, ahead of the current adventure-bike horsepower leader, Ducati’s Multistrada 1200, which made 139 horsepower on Jett Tuning’s dyno during our last road test.

You Ladies and your "low down grunt"...What? 92 lbs/ft at 6,500? ......I laugh in the face of your rev-hungry steeds......
