The New Road King

Now that is very tidy.... has it ever been used?

Great looking RK just as I would like one, with mag wheels, hard bags, and solo seat.

I agree, this is the best set up...EVO engine, a carb and no ABS...perfect

That's a good point... My Indie down here in Sussex sorted my Carb, set up my timing, new coil, leads and plugs...... What a difference.... And I mean a difference.....he stripped the carb and fitted the innards from a much newer one I'd sourced from eBay.

Its like a new bike...really....

I think it's a shame that HD stopped the hard bags on the RK here (apart from the CVO)

But what is right :nenau

Depends on so many things. Air filter, exhausts. £30 or so for a dyno run is well worth the money.

I have a air/fuel gadget that fits on for setting them about right but theres no substitute for a proper dyno run. I'm not talking tuning for performance but the standard setup is pretty lean. most Harleys are chopped and changed around without any thought for the fuelling. getting it to run as well as it can with the setup you have makes a huge difference in the way the bike runs. I reckon I'm getting another 20 miles per tankful and with the bike feeling much lighter on it's feet just for setting the carb up.

They still fit the hard bags to 'Merican market RKs and I am reliably informed informed that if you pester your local Harley dealer, (ie, you either get me one or I walk away), then they will get you one direct from the US of A ;)

The 110th Anniversary model has hard panniers fitted as standard. They've probably only dropped the basic RK whilst they sell that and then it'll be back. They do that all the time. Alternatively they've been making the RK for a long time, there are plenty of immaculate low mileage examples for sale.

Alternatively Glide Panniers bolt straight on, so you don't have to get the bike imported, just negotiate at the point of purchase. They are just an accessory. You can fit Batwing fairings to RKs and soft bags to glides. :thumb2

Thanks for the heads up Mutley, :beerjug:

FWIW both models are offered here for 2013 but next year they drop the Classic along with the Road Glides. (They'll be back as 2015 models in a revised way.) The question I have is will they keep offering the Classic for export since it's the only RK you have?

In addition to hard panniers the regular RK is fitted with cast wheels (17" front) and tubeless tires. ABS and security are packaged together as a $1,200 option and cruise is $300.

RK Classic has the leather covered panniers and spoke wheels (16" front). Cruise along with ABS and security are standard.

Comparing both with ABS, cruise, and security the regular RK is still $700 less than a Classic.

Just out of interest Clifton.

The Road king over here is the equivalent of $26652 how much are they in the states? and what are the prices like for private sales?
