The Panzer goes to Steptoe tomorrow - what am I going to ride??

It's like this.

The Panzer has been clacking like granny's knitting needles for a while now. Posted a few notes about it here - I've tried all sorts of stuff, but nothing's worked. So, the bike is now heading for the Shrine of St.Eptoe tomorrow morning, for solemn ministrations, anointing with holy 20w50 and healing.

But what on earth am I going to do for my daily bike fix? What on earth do I do if I can't ride every day? Addiction's a nasty thing - so where's the 12 step plan for motorcycle addiction??

Will do. With current form on cars, it's probably something beyond economic repair

Either that or a loose nut somewhere. Probably the one holding the bars.

Well, i've just got back from a test ride, got the bike nice and hot and rung it's neck , and i'd worry more about the noise from your gearbox than the engine.

Sounds like a perfectly normal 50K mile rattle on a 1994 engine - sure you can make it SLIGHTLY quieter, but that'll mean new parts as any used parts will be the same as you've already got, i.e. cams, cam followers, and might as well have small ends and big end shells while your doing it -

So all that fiddling with endfloat and clearances and new pushrods was a bit of a waste of time then. Moral of the story - ask the expert first. Would have done if you didn't live in the wilds of Merton Took me seven hours to get home an all.
