Is that it appears to have turned me into a hooligan! I am worried that it is too late to "grow out of it" as I am 60 next week.

Should I sell and go back to something sensible like my old Speed Triple?:rob

Absolutely NOT ! Especially as your nearly 60( which has nothing to do with anything) Just enjoy yourself . I have owned some seriously fast bikes, Busa,R1'Blackbird,Zx9 and the mighty ZZR 1400. It's all in the right matey. The GS beats them all for grin factor. Truth is, you can get into trouble on one of the above bikes or anything a lot smaller. Adjust your riding to what your comfortable with and remember to enjoy the bike as much as the ride. Well, that's my two pence worth.

It may harm your health, as your reactions & eyesight deteriorate as you get older, so you may need to consider a slower & less powerful bike in future :)

The problem with this post is its in the wrong section.
There is so much shite spouted in the WC technical section that when you idiots are looking for a solution to a future problem it's drivel like this you'll come across.
............thats all.

Agreed.................you can't see the detail, for the dross

Glitterati eulogising frequently about how the new bike, makes them break out in a gush:eek

How about doing the sensible thing and renaming it '1200 GS Watercooled - technical' or is that too difficult?

P.S. I agree it is very easy to be a hooligan on the new GS

no understand.

This is the 1200 Watercooled section , right ? So the issue is what ? People talking about their 1200 watercooled bikes in the 1200 watercooled section ?

.

Some people think that this should be a technical section only for the WC - but I don't see a problem with posting anything LC related in here.

For example: " The LC is a brilliant bike and the best GS to date"

Some idiot will probably come along and tell me off now - but hey it is water of a ducks back because the Internet is like that :)

With all due respect, a WC is hardly a 'Hooligan bike'. I appreciate you have moved from a relativley low base line (Speed Triple) but have you ever ridden a 'fast' modern bike or even relatively low speed hooligan bikes such as a well sorted SM?

the water gs does the century in 3.0 secs. Thats very very fast for anything with wheels on it , whether 2 or 4.

and yeah , the water GS makes me hooligan'ish by the sheer amount of mid range acceleration available combined with the sublime handling. Buzzing cars and going round them at roundabouts and highway exits ... heck !

just to be sure : we're talking about a 1200 watercooled bike in the 1200 watercooled section .

.

Apologies to ALL, especially to my fellow forum member with a reclining baboon for an Avatar! I just thought it was a light hearted quip on a dull Monday...Obviously wrong. I see age does not bring wisdom either, (but then I knew that anyway)

Still a great piece of kit, for a BMW!

OK I'll get my hat...!

My old Honda was doing 0-60mph in 3 seconds and that was 35 years ago. Progress huh :D
