The rear servo seems to stick on from time to time

Help.. I have a 03 Gs 1150 with abs and servo's.
The rear servo seems to stick on from time to time.
The rear brake light works fine . I have fitted new brake pads.
When I switch on the ignition. everything works fine as it should. the brake warning light stays on for a few seconds and then goes out. after pressing the rear brake a few times the servo sometimes sticks on. And the warning light comes back on.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
 
Do you mean that you can hear the servo whining away when you're not applying the brakes?

I see that this is a follow up to your earlier query. Did you play with the switch at all? Did you clean the pistons and the caliper itself? Is the pin that holds the pads worn at all< I.e. does it have a groove in it? I have the same bike as you incidentally.
 
I thought I had it fixed.. but it seems to intermitant.. The switch seems to be working and it is switching on the brake light.. The pin seems to be ok .everything cleaned and replaced and still the servo is whining away when the ignition is switched on..
 
Does it stick on just after applying the rear brake, or does it stick when the front lever is used as well?
 
and does the brake light stay on when the servo is stuck on?

check again the switch....

If it was only the switch at fault, this wouldn't make one of the warning lights come on?

I've had it before where the warning light came on intermittently, this was when one of the filaments in the bulb had blown. The bike knows a bulb has blown and lights up one of the warning lights. I didn't think it was a bulb, until I realised that the bike knows when one filament has blown it alters the voltage to the remaining filament , so that from behind it seems to be both a tail & a stop light.

try changing the bulb, cheapest option. Mine seemed to be working intermittently, that's to say the fillament sometimes reconnected itself.

Although I don't see how this would make the servo run.
 
No the brake light goes out when the foot brake is released..
After switching off the ignition for seferal minutes and then switching it on again . It resets its self untill the rear brake is pressed again a few times..
 
maybe time to look in the font of wisdom and perform a servoectomy... after ruling out any other suggestions though
 
Being fairly new to this site where is the font of wisdom ?
 
Thanks for the advice,, but im not convinced thats the way to go just yet. will try checking everything again before I remove the servo.

Is the fluid level ok?

Have you tried bleeding the system? Could be an air lock in the system.

*This bit could be complete tosh*

Now there was something I remember (or I could just have made up) about if you replace the brake pads you had to push the callipers back in with the ignition on in order to stop the servo throwing a hissy fit.

I could have made that up and it could be tosh - I'll have a search.

I have never done that before... just push them in slowly
 
Not quite sure...
I replaced the pin and spring things in caliber.. cleaned everything around brakes. cleaned brake light switch.. topped up fluid .. prayed... stood back.. swore.. prayed again.. drank beer.. drank some more beer.. cried a little , threatened to trade it in for a 1200 , walked away , came back and it started working properly.. So in short .. I dont have a clue..
