Took the bike out today and did the ring; no fuel pump or other problems. 170 Kilometers in 6 hours and 10 minutes. I'm happy with that as it was the push bike. Legs a bit heavy from pumping now :oonyack; I'll skip the Tour De France this year.

Odd things occur to me cycling; how can olive oil be extra virgin. Virginity is like death in that it is an absolute term. You can't be extra dead - or can you, but olive oil can be extra virgin? :nenau

Good question. Wikipedia says:

Virgin oil production means the oil was produced by the use of physical means and no chemical treatment.
Virgin olive oil comes from virgin oil production only, has an acidity less than 2%, and is judged to have a good taste.
Extra-virgin olive oil comes from virgin oil production only, contains no more than 0.8% acidity, and is judged to have a superior taste.

I'm taking glucosamine sulphate for the last 2 months and it is easing the stiffness in my knees. Arthritis awaits - but I have been hard on those knees.

6 hours & 10 minutes again this year & a great day - finished with legs to spare. Not complaining about that @ my age :rob

So . .

. . what with stops for sustenance & the odd slash you musta bin doin' an av. of 20 mph. Is that what the compewther said?

Auerage was 28KPH 2 quick slash'n'water stops otherwise kept going. Carbohydrate in water & brack in pocket.
On a long cycle stopping is a mistake - the lactic acid stiffens your legs & getting going again hurts worse than keeping at it.

Cue new cycling song to air of "The Hills are Alive:

"I've got Brack in Pocket"...

Sr. Maria cycles Ring Of Kerry

I'll leave it with you...

Bin
