The Roynies' US / Canada Tour

Roynie and I are currently in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, awaiting the verdict on a final drive problem with my GS. It is lovely here, but we are meant to be 1,000 miles north, on our way to Alaska.

The trip started in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on June 2nd. Since then we have covered a lot of ground. We rode Route 66 with the Mother Road Rally, then up the west coast, stopping to have the GS serviced in Portland, and into Canada.

We've been back home for a while now. My mum was taken seriously ill and we cut short the trip by about 10 days, left our bikes with a friend, and flew home from Chicago instead of Halifax.

There turned out to be nothing particularly wrong with my shaft drive - just a couple of perished rubber boots letting muck and water in whenever it rained. It was simply (and relatively inexpensively) fixed. Even so, we were off the road for about 5 days, which meant that we couldn't ride up to the Arctic Circle or see many of the other sights we wanted to in Alaska.

Instead, we caught up with a group of friends who had ridden Route 66 with us. The final week of our Alaska tour made for an interesting study in group dynamics!

Hi There

Just had a wee nosey at your Blog, by all account's you had some good times and some not so good between the accident's involving friend's, the split within the group and the news of your mum's ill health

Anyway FWIW I enjoyed your wee Blog and the photo's you have taken the time to put online
