After hitting a deep pothole at over 80mph today, I'm pleased that I've got the steering damper. A quick shake of the bars, and it corrected itself instantly.

Anyone travelling between Burford and Stow on the Wold, watch out, as it's on a fast bend.:rob

However, what we don't know, is how a 2013 bike without steeering damper would have performed. :nenau

I hit a curb at over 70mph banked over on my 2013 WC without a damper, blew out both tyres instantly and buckled both alloys. I righted the bike and brought it too a standstill in the next 100 yards. No headshake.

I have retro fitted hyperpro damper on my 13lc and have it set on zero. No headshake. Waste of time. Bike as stable as they come. Solid.

Luckily there were no curbs in the middle of the road today.:D

Is the wheel buckled though:P

Mine? Nope.:beerjug: I did stop to check the wheel hadn't cracked, it was that severe.

I'm sure we'd guessed that you weren't riding in the USA. However, were there, perhaps, any kerbs? Insidious Americanisms are so........insidious, don't you think...? :augie

I was copying Jumblemo's spelling mistake.:D

I have one of the 13's I drove off a kerb I was parked up on in Galway today, total stability.

If a get a few hours spare then I'll take a ride over there and test it out :D

Rode my 2014 GS with steering damper back to back with my mates 2013 GS without steering damper.

At speed on the motorway there is a difference.

Both of us noticed the improvement in ride on the bike with the damper.

Yes could have been tyres blah, blah, blah

The bike without the damper should hold a straight line better than the bike with damper fitted. Steering dampers inhibit the front wheel from self aligning and tracking a true straight course if not adjusted correctly.ie stiffens the steering/slows steering reaction down. Steering dampers do not aid steering only hinder. An adjustable damper is required not the cheap crap fitted by bmw.

Do you mean like the adjustable steering damper BMW fitted to the /7s in the 1970s :augie
