Yes at last, on the last day of the easter break, the sun has finally come out to play, so it was off with the covers, and out for a bimble on my trusty R80ST, but first to breakfast, well it is only right and propper :thumb2

So coffee'd up, I headed out, across Berkshire and into Hampshire (I passed a GS'er going the other way up near the country park, I wonder if it was one of you guys out and about?) looking for those lanes that cross through the heathland around Aldershot...

Soon I was mooching about, when I came across a possible storm, well I could see some Lightning :D These old war birds are dangerous, I know that, because they keep them caged up!

Then it was on through Aldershot, the once home of the British Army, but it is all boarded up now :tears and off to see the Wellington Monument, we like Wellington, it is because of him we don't get wet muddy feet :D :bow

I should probably know . . but . . .

I know that the ST came about when the Merkins started creating 'street' versions of the GS and BMW saw a marketing opportunity.

But apart from the smaller front wheel and apparent lack of side panels, what else makes it different from an 80 GS ??

Bob.

Bob.

They normally have side panels Bob. The clocks and forks are different - from a 650 I believe. The ST is probably a much better bike than the g/s unfortunately they keeping getting turned into g/s. I suspect they will be a real collectors item in future years. They only made 6,000 of them compared with 21,000 g/s

They normally have side panels Bob. Mine won't fit with the stainless exhaust, although I have a cunning plan;)

unfortunately they keeping getting turned into g/s. My one isn't so much being turning into a clone G/S, more of an urban assault bike:D the bigger tank came freee, after my original tank rotted out, so apart from the dual sport tyres and the flyscreen, she is all ST. Now that I have found some decent dual sports I see no need to change the front end. I would like it a little stiffer though (Stop sniggering at the back) so I may try a heavier weight fork oil, and the brakes are in need of an upgrade.:thumb

I have a couple of 21" G/S Wheels and a set of G/S front forks for sale if anyone wants to give it a go

Twistledown

Hi Kev

I hope you found Bourley Road which runs North West from the Wellington Statue area through heathland and then Twesledown racecourse. It is a lovely combination of twists, small hills and scenery.

Steve

That is exactly the road I took Steve, great small twisties, with just the occasional sunday dog walker to keep an eye out for. And the suicidal Pheasants of course:D

Fecking hell Rob WTF is the oilyhead owner doing in here ??
All this pettiness is starting to do my head in.....

Rob

When you have time can you remove all my posts

some are still there I would appreciate if you could remove them as i did not realise I was "freeloading" on this forum

As I said my ST was not advertised on this site and was not as far as I am aware sold to a site "member"

Yet again the airheads close ranks and believe they are a level above the rest - it was soliciting for a sale and it was not in For Sale & Wanted and it was not from a sponsor - is that the wrong thing to do?

I reported it using the report a thread tool, the fekkin freeloaders was tongue in cheek but by all means keep it in the family and keep the outsiders outside.

I couldn't give a flying fish how 'valuable' someone percieves themselves or their knowledge - just play by the same rules as the rest and no one will have a problem.

Bill I suspect it was supposed to be a little humour on Andy's part. I thought you would take it in the same vein.

I never saw his posting - you pointed that matter out to me in a posting that has now been deleted - why did you delete your posting?

Andy has not said anything to me - it was you who made the comment, after which I asked that you delete my postings which had a link to my site....plus any others if you wish
