Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Been here six years now and have enjoyed all of it, I always loved telling people I was semi retired at the age of forty. Unfortunately I cannot say it any more as the two sources of income I used to have seem to have almost dried up (pun intended)...

So I have been recycling myself back into internet work "like what I used to do" and have tried out some of these new fangled CMS and Open source software packages. Leaving me with

www.irishgrass.com and www.westcorkarts.com
in the hope that after a meeting or two this week I might be able to drum up some work either teaching or doing it...

I really don't want to sign on as it just seems so useless, but so far this year things are very slack. Anyway just sharing the news with you guys, can empathize with those of you who are having a hard time.

Wish me luck, first thing to go is the bike:( but I hope it will work out

feel free to take the piss if you want, but the post is a serious one...

Keep at it Richie and the best of luck at the end of the day if you have paid your dues and need shekels to feed and clothe the family you're entitled to "sign On"

It may be a last resort and the Dole office can be sooooo depressing but it's just that a last resort for the likes of a lot of us who just don;t wanna go there

Good Luck !

P.S. there's plenty of cheap wee bikes that'll do for toodling so not the end of the world. I mean you could have a Rocket Sled K100RS 16V for cheap money :aidan

I already have a cheap bike Jaythro, as I always pay cash for stuff I buy, compared to others in the country I am in a sound position... Its just cash in the pocket I am lacking...

I know how ya feel I spent quite a few days Ironing out the wee niggles with this wee bike and it is sweet as a nut but my dopey knee doesn't like gearchanges on K100s RS or 16V or all!

Disheartening after lusting after one for a while!

Keep Chin up If you're up this way I'm up for a yarn and a few beers

There's no shame in it Richie. Not these days.
Unless you're going to spend the rest of your life on it & milk it for all it's worth but I don't think that's you.
You're starting too late in life to get the most outta it anyway ;)

Hi Richie, I love your philosophy, I wish you the very best of luck. How about M/cycle tours around Achille, with B&B ? You live is such a beautiful environment, there must be scope to exploit it. How about group photography courses of sea scapes etc, or water painting seascapes and coastal regions etc.
Must be artists paradise.

Best of luck
Pablo

I semi retired when I left school. I've only ever tried to work 8 out of 24 hours that's enough for me. I'm currently doing a lot less than that, I'm loving it wifey's not so understanding. I hope you manage to get back on the treadmill soon doing your chosen task.
