I'm interested to know more about your bike Kev. I've seen pictures on this site from when you got the bike through all the trips you lot have done to now. How many miles have you on the bike now?

The bike passed the 50k miles mark while we were away. It's eight years old and I bought it with 11k on it. It's a non servo, non abs std 1150 single spark. I've added the 33 litre Adv tank and a pair of Ohlins.
I replaced the rear bevel before I went away as a precaution. It's still on the original clutch, I've replaced the original BMW battery and had three alternator belts snap (two being my fault)
Apart from the above nothing else has failed on the bike, I've never had a dealer service it but taken it to Steptoe or done it myself. It makes me cringe to hear what people go through with new bikes, dealers and the amount of money they spend.
Keep looking at other bikes but can't see why I should change from one that does what I want it to.

What a brilliant trip report fellas.. Have had to go to the begining and read it right the way thru ,from begining to end.. Not done a lot for my sunday plans but Ho Hum shit happens eh ,lol.. I defy anyone reading it to NOT be getting itchy feet now ,lol.. Some of the trip is familiar territory to me and some not so. Its the "not so" thats the major interest, of course.. I'm pleased to see that you all had a safe trip and a safe return .. Few scrapes along lifes highways ,but thats what makes life that little bit more interesting.. Men and machines were well up to such a briliant trip.. Well done to each and every one of you.. Normal life will feel a bit of an anti climax for a while i'm sure.. Making plans for the next one is a good way round that though..

My trip started on the Tuesday 18th with a run down to sunny Sunderland through some pritty bad weather, four seasons in four hours.
Treated to a lovely tea by Bryans wife , met up with James for a couple of pints then off to bed. Super breakfast to start the day, then the waiting for Bryans green card to arrive. James and I left without Bryan and I was introduced to 85mph filtering on the M25
Had a good run through France and into Switzerland where Kev had a slight bump. Temp going into tunnel -4 half way through +30 then 0 at the other side, then onto Milan
Friday the 21st Bryan and I decided to add another country the Princapality of San Marino
took a lot longer and just made the ferry
First Mountain range in Greece( fantastic
)
A bit of Dirty rain in Greece the bikes looked as if they been in the desert and onto Turkey

Now I am not one for souvenirs but managed to get some nice bright yellow TAXI paint on my left hand pannier(need to change underwear)
Off to Bulgaria, pot holes to lose your bike in

It was a great trip. I wished I had gone to the Croatian coast .. that looked so beautiful!
I understand what you mean about the people on the trip. It's pretty amazing 12 "relative" strangers can spend so much time together and we didn't have (any major) problems getting on with one another. Families go away for holidays have more trouble then we did
I know you get emotional Kev and I know the trip meant a lot to you. As the old saying goes .. what goes on tour stays on tour
