THE UNSTOPPABLE BMW R1200GS

Mine (2008)stopped on Sunday. Told today by dealer that it was the Fuel Pump Controller.

I replaced my fuel pump controller with a tube of smarties, all good now.

Number of Yamaha MT-03's on AT? 66 last time i checked.

In other words, in the case of BMW practice demonstrably doesn't make perfect. No surprise, considering they buy in cheapo rubbish parts.

Any warning

Just out of interest, do you get any warnings of an impending failure or does it just die one day?

I have a silver FPC on my '08 GSA (not the supposed black one which is the replacement) so when it does to the dealer for the final service before the warranty runs out I will ask them to confirm in writing that there are no recalls outstanding for my bike.

We'll see.

If you look under the controller (silver one) you'll maybe see corrosion which is possibly a sign of failure. My early 2008 GS did have the old style, now on it's second new one.

The recovery guy told me the other day that the GS was the most common bike he picks up for FPC and battery issues.
