The very first G/S - seen today!

Wow.
I bet that was Expensive if it’s the very first g/s .

would love to be able to buy that.
 
On the R80 G/S facebook group they reckon that there are quite a few of "the first 0001 G/S 's" around ?
I saw it in the auction and after getting that feedback didn't go for it .
 
Given the history folder that went with this one, and who owned it previously, there must be quite an industry in forging these bikes. Where are the others?

This is weird, looks very very different from the one showed at Bonhams in 2020, three years won’t do bring that patina…

Gian Stichermann I had a very very close look at this g/s also all the other parts as its is only 4 mls away from me . The rear wheel is the narrow type and not 2.50 X 18 ahd the hub has three plastic bungs where it should have one on the early machines also as mentioned no kick start lever but a stop has been welded to frame as similer as the HPN set up to save damage to frame but fitted with an elec starter . No brake cam fitted to hub (missing ) hub could be well worn ,forks have lots of rust pitting ,tank has some very serious rust in patches all the alloy parts are very corroded . I could go on for ever The late owner lived in my area but the g/s was dumped in a barn so I am told with a Basic and a ST all rather tattie . Will be at the auction to see who the Mug is as they say .

Its documents, registration etc because it can't be the same as this below, saw it at IMOT Munich 16 Feb 2020 (not Bonhams, my bad)

Rear hub not correct, gearbox without kick.. supposed to be akso an high mileage bike

It was the fact that a 001 in the picture sold in Munich in 2020
Put the VIN number in real OEM and comes up as manufactured in May 1980
 
I see - I saw the bike that 'Andrew Hutton Marshall' saw. It convinced me it was the first one 6250001. There is a 6262001, 6260000, 6281001, 6291001 etc, all later examples. The Munich one could be one of those?
