Oh Goody another Hilltop thread......

Having had both my previous GS TC and LC done i wasn't going to bother with the XR as lets face it it is plenty fast enough and not lumpy like a GS but there is always that little nag in the back of my mind that says it could be better ......

I couldnt stand the thought of that arse Nutty having his done and crowing about it so today in the bloody cold and hail storms i made my way.

First run on the dyne and Geof commented on how smooth the power was and asked if it had been a demo bike !

128 BHP at the wheel at 10333 with torque of 67.3 at 9030 revs

fairly shit figures really as BMW claim 160 at the crank but even with such low numbers it was a bloody quick bike.

I went for breakfast whilst geoff did Geoff stuff to it and i was back in time for the last run

160.49BHP at 10300 and torque 89.14 at 8500

Noticeably smoother which in itself is surprising bearing in mind the straight power curve initially and by christ you ca feel the extra horses

Not really had chance to push it due to needing new tyres desperately and the weather but the most noticele thing so far is what it does at 80 when you tweek the throttle just a bit - 100 comes and goes in the blink of an eye ......

money well spent IMO but to all the nay sayers come and fill ya boots

Will it affect your insurance?

How does Geoff do it?

Will a software update from WMB overwrite the Hilltop map?

What does it do to emmisions?

That power/torque increase sounds incredible. Have you had the figures independently verified?

Will the remap invalidate the bike's warranty?

Er, I think that about covers it all?

It puts out nearly as much as my Hilltop'd 1190R, nice one redrick. Bet you can't wait to get some new rubber on her :thumb

Andres

Sounds amazing

How much of your funny money ? Are you running standard exhaust and or a power commander or such like? Enjoy your bike once the weather improves.

It really is like spinning up a big turbine now ! it also sounds better for it and yep new tyres on sturdy and i shall report back properly

Standard exhaust all the way through no PC. the bike was as stock engine wise as possible.
Geoff can do more with this engine as it has more electronic stifling than the gs as it is the detuned rr lump

As for money i get a hefty discount as a repeat offender

Engineer will never believe you, are your heated grips still shite

Sorcery.....burn him....he's a witch (but only burn him after he has done my R Nine T) :)

Well played Rick

I'm taking my R12r tc and if I don't see 140 Hp I want my money back.

The charts

Run 1 and as you can see that is not bad at all although the fueling is a bit iffy low down

Run 2

much better as in increase in power and torque

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/rickmidgley/26658679535/in/dateposted-public/" title="doc20160426163352_001"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1503/26658679535_25e6eda584_c.jpg" width="800" height="566" alt="doc20160426163352_001"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Will you need to take it back to him when you get the full system on there?

I want to remap mine but that is the big question?

Also roughly how much "Wonga" will it set me back as a first timer?

No it won't Speak with Geoff he will reassure you of that and explain why ( It think Andres was being a little naughty with his post to draw out the usual suspects lol, he knows the answer)

As a first timer with UKGSer discount it will cost you £350 which sounds a lot but better value than a power commander IMO and worth every penny

So just a 22.5% power increase if you send your ECU rather than 25% if you take your bike to Earl Shilton.

So claimed !

I need to add that it isn't just the remap with the XR as there is some bit of electronic stuff that is part of the RR detune that can be "adjusted"

That bit is not possible on a GS as they don't have that obviously

I'm booked in to have Jeff stuff done to my XR soon. Please will you update us on how differently it feels/rides after being 'Jeffed' now you've replaced your tyres. I've bought a new rear tyre already in anticipation of needing it very soon.

The power increase is not as noticeable as it was on the GSA but it still feels better than prior to jeffing and worth having it done IMO ( Nutty may well back me up )

I have the full Akra on mine, and the low down torque is much better. It'll go down to about 10mph in 3rd, and pull all the way up. I can really notice the extra power since before, the thing just wants to wheelie all the time (4th gear wheelies are easy).

Can't wait until the 9th. I wish the traction control was like the Multistrada so that it will let you wheelie without having to turn it off before you do.
