There is a "Same Location, Different time" thread in "Show us yours"

Can't do the big time spans.
How's about 31 years apart.

Now there's a blast from the past! When I knew Mr Fraser he had trouble being co-ordinated enough to ride a push bike, let alone a motorcycle:D

A troop of American soldiers stood next to a WWI Memorial in 1944 on the day they liberated the town of St. Marie du Mont, Nomandy, France, and Simon and Richard's homage to them last year.

A few more strolls through the past...

A festive 1901 Labor Day in the thriving, mining community of Eldora...

Well, with the mines less thriving, so is the now sem-ghost town of Eldora. What a contrast...

When fires swept through communities back then, seriously, little could be done. Many towns saw flames pass through more than once. The Cripple Creek fire of 1896. Dang...

Hey, let's start building more often with brick. Early 1900's...

And 100 years later. I should actually be a few feet forward...

About 60 years ago, the D&SP station house in Como was in a state of decay after the tracks over nearby Boreas Pass were pulled up.

Things are coming around a bit, but things are also still a little slow and sleepy in Como (named by Italian miners who thought the area reminded them of home)...

Nevadaville, about a mile SW above Central City, boasted in 1865 a population of 4,000... one of the most populous towns in the state at the time. The first big gold strike was nearby...

The population today now hovers between 5 and 10...

Hiroshima.............

Thanks much.

Isn't this near "ground zero"? I recall the target was a bridge. I wonder if the bridge location nearby was the one in the sights of the bombardier.

I recall the tale of a Japanese farming family taking a son for the first time to the Hiroshima Farmer's Market. I guess this son was the impatient kind, complaining about the slow travel pace. He was totally upset when they didn't push on to make it to Hiroshima in the evening. The old farmer was a man of method and patience. They finally were able to set eyes on Hiroshima late AM as they made it to a surrounding hilltop. They saw the devastation of 8:30a that morning.

I was there last october during a spin around Japan. I started a report which i will try and finish. You are correct it was an easy target the Enola Gay used this as an aiming point. The dome was directly under "little boy" but was the only building to remain intact.
Hiroshima is a lovely city.
