Definitely go the Merino wool way, might be more expensive but by far the best and doesn't start to odour after a couple of hours like man-made fibres. Have tried quite a few brands of Merino wool garments and Icebreakers is the best for quality, shape keeping and comfort. Great for travel and camping as they can last a few days before needing a wash. I managed to get some at half price when the local BLACKS shut down. Merino wool t-shirts are great for all year round wear, not just for layering in winter.

Seelskinz socks are great and merino wool again.

Go outdoors sell their own brand of Merino Wool socks for about £5 a pair and they are great. Got thinner ones from John Lewis for summer use. I think it was 3 pairs for £12.

Shovelled snow for hours today and merino t-shirt performed great at wicking the sweat away, and it still smelled fresh at the end of it.

It was through this site that I got the advice to try out Merino wool stuff and I am very pleased that I followed the recommendations. You will not be disappointed.

+1 on Icebreakers merino wool. I keep buying from them. T-shirts, tights, sweaters. Nothing compares to the comfort of merino.

Trekmates merino wool long johns and and zip up long sleeve top. Not cheap but kept me going for 3 months. Great base layer in all conditions. As others have stated, they don't smell which counts for a lot when you're living out of a tent.

Blinking marvelous! Bit priceier than some, but they do the business!!!

Been using HH for couple of years now and happy with em!

Mate of mine just got a set for a bargin from Cotswolds £60 Top n Bottoms.

Aldi have merino wool tops and bottoms at the mo - £15 each if you can find any in your size.

+1 for Aldi and thye had my size in. Warm as toast on the bike the other day.

As someone posted in another thread, subscribe to RiDE for £42 for the year and you canget a set of EDZ base layers.

I use the leggings under my leather trousers in hot weather - excellent wicking. Quite a snug fit so maybe go up one size when ordering.

Probably not as good as meriono recommended by others but it seems like a good deal if you like RiDE

Latest ride magazine have a product test on thermals. Good read but not cheap. Best buy, Bikers Perform £145 and highest scoring is BMW's PCM Functional Undersuit £197. High tech materials apparently justify the cost. As with most things, you get what you pay for.
