.....at least mine ain’t – 14 days galloping up and down the Alps from Austria to Italy and back to Austria again, numerous times.

Fully loaded mit baggage - or should that be overloaded – and the trouble und strife t’boot – 3400kms done at 57mpg average. I am well chuffed.

The bike has now covered 10200km in total, the Anakee’s are still well street legal – ca. 2-3000km left on the back I guess, more on the front. The only ‘problem’ if I’m going to be picky, is oil consumption but even that is’nt really that bad…….

Just thought it’s about time we had some positive comments about the beast……

I agree, the bike is bloody fantastic.
With 4,000km on the clock, I rode across Australia and back.
A total of 10,500km, with about 10 days riding (plus 2 weeks in between for the holiday).
The bike drew attention everywhere I went. Every time I stopped I had to allow at least an extra hour to cater for all the drooling people in awe at the beast.
The beast was brilliant. Before the return journey I did invest in sheep skin seat covers. These made the numb bum a little less intense, but did mean I lost grip on the seat, and the tendency was to slide forward into the tank.
Fuel consumption varied depending on how hard I pushed the bike, and oil consumption was what i consider to be acceptable.
However the poor old rear Anake was no longer round in profile, was as square as a car tyre.
Since then she has mostly only been dragged out for short day runs, with a 2000km weekender thrown in for good measure.
Bring back summer...... I wanna play more.

On my list of things to do...... (in the not to distant future) is to ride across Oz. Have a mate who lives in Sidney and that would be my starting point.. which route did you take?

Work permitting would hopefully have about 2 weeks plus. Maybe my best bet would be to ride from east to west then fly home.

Was out there in 2002 and hired a Pan European for a few days but would prefer to hire something like a GS.. any idea on availability or cost etc?

Any good website's or further info on the above would be much appreciated.. :)
