Things I discovered on the way back from East Midlands Event

1. If you knock the right hand handguard, it turns quite easily and stops the brake lever from moving right forward - then you get hardly any brakes. Something I knew about but had never happened to me before. Residual braking, more like not much braking at all!

2. The backlight for the RID seems to be on holiday, is this built in or a replaceable bulb? Speedo and rev counter light seem fine.

3. There is thin line of oil between the engine and gearbox, looks like I might be getting some benefit from the additional year's warranty after all. Presumably this is the cause of the occasional smell of hot clutch after doing a few motorway miles.

55 plate bike, not much over 10K on it.

On my way home I discovered that hitting a pigeon at 80mph is like being punched hard with no warning. But I survived... I doubt you could say the same for the pigeon.

It hit me (or I hit it) at dusk... do they have bad eyesight?

1.tighten up the bar end bolt and the handguards dont move
2. no idea but would assume it has a replacable bulb
3. gearbox oil seal has had a pish - the clutch plate prob also needs to be replaced.

1. Done, more loctite this time
2. Working again now, but don't know why
3. I would imagine that it will, but it's a warranty job for a dealer

I like my 1200, when I replace it, it will be another one, or maybe, just maybe, the 800GS, they look good but I've not ridden one. KTMs are way too tall for my short legs.
