Thinking about selling one of my airheads

We have just had a rash of people in Oz start advertising a crating/ shipping/ documentation service from the West coast of the USA to Oz.
Just get the bike to them and they do the rest.

Charges are quite reasonable- around $A1000-/GBP 600- , and this makes purchasing in the US attractive if you can find the right bike.

I asked just on the off chance that there was someone in the UK advertising a similar service, as your bike comes in the category of the "right bike" and even if the shipping was twice the cost of from the US it would still work out OK.

No problems with the box - I got off my backside and bought a couple of cheap roughies on Ebay, and the tools to rebuild them.

On stripping both were good, having no more than output bearing wear , and they have been a cheap rebuild / source of parts.

So I have been able to replace my junk GS box, rebuild the heavily damaged G/S box , and have a spare too - although a kickstart end cover for the spare would be nice if I could find one.

I just did a quick Google search and found quit a few companies who will ship from the UK.

All you have to do now is convince Rob that he has enough time to go with it

Rob Has very little time for anything at the minute. That includes sleeping

Been getting up at 4:30 and working through untill 7-8pm or even later for weeks now.

I was bored with it and it was never that cushy.

Not sure what happened about the work/life balance they talked about at the interview for my new job. Clearly I didn't see the big weight on the work end of the scale

Easy to say but book some time off and they will have to manage without you.

You may come back to a large in box and 'a to do list' but hopefully they will feel the pressure and realise how much you have to do.

I spent many years doing what you are doing; you will not be any better thought of.

And tomorrow go for a blast on the bike, if heading up the road, drop in for a cuppa.

I'll second that . . Years of doing 80 hour weeks for 35 hours pay and getting nothing but hassle from people who did F-All all day. I loved the work, which is why I stuck at it. The most memorable quote was from the Head of Department who said "I can't promote you . . You're far too useful to me where you are" .

Get the work / life balance right, Rob.

Sorry Rob, another off-topic post but a +1 on Bob's & cobbster's comments. Unless you're getting some OT, in which case fair play, the only thing you're doing in the long term if this continues is missing out on life while d'management save on their salary bill.

Keep the bike Rob, you have spent many hours getting it to the condition it's in now.
If you do sell somebody else is going to reap the benefits of all your hard work.
Whatever you buy to replace you will want to do something to it and get frustrated, as you will not have the time and you’re the type of person who enjoys carrying out the works yourself.

I regret selling all of my bikes.

The positions gone to a guy from Cambridge Uni. I never go back to previous jobs.
