ive been having a debate in my head if Its a good idea to do this with my 08 bike. Does anyone need anything ? and if anyone has any pointers to some rare parts that maybe worth decent money im all ears . thanks
well it owes me £2500 , would I expect someone to pay that for a none runner, no. but back of a fag packet calculations says I may get close IF I can sell most of the big bits. I know it's a big IF.What do you put the value of the complete bike at? I've considered this, and concluded it needs to be a low value if this ever is to be an attractive route for disposal
thanks ill let you know as soon as I know what im doing with itI'd be interested in the wheels for my X-Moto.
yes I realise there will be a lot of leftovers once the good stuff if gone plus the hassle of god knows how many visits to the post office .@peepingtom The problem is you are left with a shedload of bits that people just don;t need and you have to store and label and keep track etc etc
Sell it in one bit or be prepared to put a shedload of effort into getting rid of it bit by bit
Or Sell yours to John Nicholson, He's looking a new project LOL
it has a problem with abs pump running up as soon as the battery is connectedWhat's wrong with it?
I've delete abs'd a few bikes. Easy enough to do, but will need a couple of new brake lines from somewhere like venhill etc (the front one I think). I'd get it running then sell fwiwit has a problem with abs pump running up as soon as the battery is connected
When I looked at doing it I didn't get anywhere near £2500 in bits in my estimations. I've sold good engines for £500 (I have new boxed for £1600), wheels at £300, clocks seem to fetch £150 ISH then it's a case of what else you can sell and get anything decent for. It's a relatively small market which can be both a good thing and a bad thing I guess.n n

thanks yes maybe im being optimistic we shall see ill try and make a decision by the end of the weekend either way. When I looked at doing it I didn't get anywhere near £2500 in bits in my estimations. I'd either sell it out complete as a donor bike for someone, or remove the abs and sell it for something like you want. I have a couple that I'll prob sell next year, and I think you're right on your estimation of £2500 as a ballpark for an average bike.
Good luck whatever you choose to do
it would be the sensible thing to do I guess, something needs to happen, I did an abs removal on my 1200 years ago and it was very simpleI think that as long as the bike is mechanicaly sound (apart from abs) then it is worth saving, I have no issues with my x challenge being g non abs.
100%would be a shame not to dig some dirt with the tyres I put on a couple of years ago
