I probably have the enviable task of running a chum's bike in this Friday.

I plan to pick the bike up at about 08:30 in the City, then ride out to say, Chlemsford.

From C'ford, I will then make a full day of it, out through Essex and Cambridgeshire, back to Essex. Probably about 200 miles on decent roads.

Ping up here if you want to join me at Chelmsford at about 09:30.

Richard

Chelmsford Tesco? Or where in the City are you setting off from at 8:30 Wapping or elsewhere?

What time do you think it will end? If you don't mind me going early as I have to get back to my way for 7:30 dinner appointment.

I hope to have the bike on my doorstep at about 08:15.

Twenty minutes to get ready and chin-wag to its owner, then off to Chelmsford.

I would hope to be at the Tesco car park at about 09:30.

Finishing time?

Well, as the aged farm worker told my sister, his employer: "I don't rightly know mrs; I ain't started yet".

A Foray Into East Anglia...

...Could easily take you to the Boxer Beet from your yard.

You could bring some jellied eels to go with our afternoon pint. :thumb

It's not that far...

Hey Richard sounds like fun especially if Tom is showing up on his 250cc Orange Crush. Unlikely to happen in Essex, but it would be fun if we could by chance run into some Belgian Policeman to re-enact the Ardennes adventure.

I will meet you 8:15am at Wapping High Street. I just think it will be better than riding the Northern section of the M25 on my bike in rush hour. :thumb2

An interesting and cunning plan, with but one flaw....

I shall not be at Wapping High Street at 08:15 :blast

I shall, in all probability, be walking to the car park beneath Marsh's Tower Place office around that time.

Go to: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=mar...=uk&cid=0,0,15816993798439798211&z=19&iwloc=A

Zoom in and you will see Lower Thames Street, running west to east. Beneath the arrow marked A there is a grey shadow with a kink in it, which is the entrance to the garage. Wait as patiently as possible there :beerjug:

Ok I will meet you outside the Marsh car park. :D

That is unless the owner of the bike changes his cunning plans, as he is very prone to do.

Let's leave it that I will contact YOU in good time, so that WE will both know what we are doing.

BTW I have the "running in your bike" route from Chelmsford Tesco back from several years ago when you led a ride. I will download that into the 550 before Friday.

Ting Tong, me ol' China.

Put the whole cunning plan into the bin.

On Monday it all sounded so simple. But...........

My chum is now flapping about, wondering whether he will meet me at 08:00 or some other time and somewhere else and / or whether he needs his bike back by 16:00.

This is not an usual course of events :augie

Rather than piddle you about and drag you all the way from Slough, forget about the whole idea, please.
