Amazing that a workshop is going to exhibit at the excel bike show and thinks it can make a living making these creations - good luck to them!

Can't imagine why anyone would want to convert a std R80/100 into a scrambler 
But I do like the look of that 2nd bike.. Simple and functional.

I suppose its the "standard" bit,everyone likes to put their stamp on a bike even if its the smallest thing....without people doing exactly the above with old road bikes the gs and all other offroadies wouldnt exist.

ok, just nothing very special about it.
in view of your post, i'd like to take back my earlier comment. i now realise i my earlier use of the word "amateurish" was a bit harsh.

I've forgotten how many bikes I've tinkered with... in fact I've got two on the "go" at the moment.. R80 (84 RT) which I'm cafe racering.. and a 98 GSX750W which I'm turning into a street fighter... But I still love my bitza:
this was last year.. looks a bit different now (pannier racks/alloy panniers and a proper rack behind the seat).
There are times I wish I'd gone down the more scrambler route... maybe the next one

We have design rules and a police force in Oz , and one reg which is enforced is the coverage of the rear mudguard , which has to come round to cover around 2/3 of the wheel.
We also need a brake light, indicators where they were OEM , and a full sized rear number plate on the rearmost point of the gaurd.
So none of the style jobs so far would make it onto the road over here.
The first thing I have upgraded on my Airheads are the front brakes, funny how most of these things have crap front brakes, one is even running a singe ATE - hope he has thick soles on his boots.
I'd post a picture of my bikes , but I dont have a camera------.

I had real trouble with the single ATE's power/feel to begin with, but now it's bedded in its actually okay (not brilliant but okay). I'm still not leaving it at that though as I've got a set of brembo forks/calipers (from a later R80) and a narrow police hub sitting the the garage which I'll probably sort out to transfer in sometime this year.
I'm first to admit that the majority of "modified" bikes tend to be half measures (mine included)... Some though excel and those are a credit to the builder and shine through as simply pure genius!

I suppose some "specials" are built as styling exercises (like choppers) and others are done to improve rideability.
I'm a fan of taking a bike that you like and modifying the weak areas to improve its performance eg. brakes, suspension and comfort. Always enjoy looking at engineering excellence and attention to detail.
The scrambler style doesn't float my boat.
