I've been thinking of replacing my just sold 12GS and have been considering an R80GS,mostly due to there being so many available here because they were the chosen steed of the police for many years and are relatively cheap. It seems to be an ideal opportunity to turn a bike into something i like so I've been looking at various options, and came across this........

From here.

How hard would it be to get close to this look, from a standard bike?

I dont know what it would take... but I do like that :thumb2

That.s a Paralever front end and petrol tank on a Mono bike. The swinging arm has been extended with a bolt on kit and there's an extra tube welded on the standard sub-frame. Acerbis rear mudguard

Not a million miles away from the Green GS parked outside the shop next to your favourite tyre shop in Istanbu. That one has the same front end fitted - the same as my PD's in the picture.

single seat and rack unit is easily available, rear guard is a UFO unit again easy to get, the rast is just paint, time, and the money spanner:thumb2

Well, yes, but para lever or mono? Perhaps I should ask what the difference is between them. Or Google.

It's an early 90's Paralever GS and looks reasonably standard. Having the standard collector box is a big plus point.

The Paralever is a much more refined (I use that word loosely) bike. The forks work much better than the earlier machines and the rear end is a vast improvement. You do have to accept that the drive shaft is a weak spot and will need replacing at some point. Apart from that it's a better machine and has the benefit of not demanding such a high price.
