... is the blue-ing of the chrome headers on my GSA exhaust indicative of a problem, or do they all do that (sir). ?

Several Jap bike owners have said "you're obviously running lean". :rob

My old GS didn't have chromed pipes, so difficult to compare.

What does the learned panel think??

Absolutely normal. :thumb2

Shows you have taste and a bigger wallet than the cheapskates who go for the stainless option that goes a sh1tty brown.

Thanks - just what I thought (on both counts!).

Just had the seeds of doubt planted the THIRD time a pocket-rocket rice-burner pilot said "you've got a lean-running problem there mate". Next time I will confidently reply "Nah, they all do that - don't you know nuffink about bee-ems, you numptie...?"

Yep. :o All my life.
But I learn... h'eventuaaally. :thumb2

Beemers only have single skin headers, whereas chromed Jap bikes usually have double skinned where the pipes are on show. This stops blueing.

Ah thanks for that I had wondered why there was a difference between my bike and another of similar age but different specification.
