Maybe £6k for a really nice stock one,but that looks in shite order with rusty nuts and bolts,and a load of crap bolted onto it.

Have you seen the thing that Bobble bought off Rob Farmer.Now that's what I'd like as a toy
I expect it was expensive crap though.
Afraid I cant really see the apeal of a basic over a stock gs. Its a para with a blue frame and a nice looking tank that I cant get my knees into without sitting on the rear mud guard. Why are they so expensive ?

Basics retain their price if kept 100% standard...this one is a £4,500 - £5,000 jobbie

Why are they so expensive ?

Limited production numbers and demand keep the prices high and to be honest can't see them dropping.
As Kenny says it's the standard bikes that make decent money, even a Siebenrock kit reduces rather than adds to value.
Too much added to that bike to make top dollar, have to admit the descriptions pushing it as well:
This is one of the nicest R80GS Basic's in the UK.
I know of a few nicer ones

The Hinckley Bonnies are great bikes especially now they are getting cheap enough second hand to be customised.
Love this one
Look pretty good off road as well
