thought this might interest somebody

The last time I saw this bike it was in piss poor condition. It lives outside in all weathers and has never been treated to ACF50 or anything similar. Shame really, it was a nice bike when he first got it but he really hasn't looked after it at all and the condition can only be described as poor.

Think I'll stick with my R100PD Classic. :)

Not sure about the above negative comments.

I reckon it's a nice bike, got all the right bits and at £5750 not that far of the mark.

I have always prefered to buy a genuine looking bike rather than one tarted up and stuff hidden for a sale.

When did you last see it?

You won the dirtiest bike at the Hograost, but it cleaned up ok and you sold it soon afterwards

Well he's obviously reading this thread, as he's just texted me that it's at the "correct" price now :augie
He's also wondering why I haven't commented..
Why should I ?
Not my type of bike, never wanted one, never lusted after one....
I just think that he will regret selling this one............
Still, he's a big boy and knows what he's doing :augie:augie:augie

My KTM was indeed in immaculate condition. At Hogroast it got covered in lots of wet drippy mud to win "Dirtiest Bike" award. Immediately afterwards it was professionally cleaned and returned to A1 condition once the mud was washed off. There's a big difference between washing mud off of an otherwise good condition bike and the sort of neglect that Trippy's bike has suffered over the last 2 winters. Mr ACF50 can almost work miracles but you can't simply clean away corrosion on alloy parts.

Trippy's bike has lived outside for 2 winters now with no protection. We both saw it this time last year at the Salisbury Plain event. I was surprised how poor it looked as I had seen it when he first got it. He admitted that it lived outside and that it had no preventative treatment eg SCF50 or Scotoiler 365. Various nuts and bolts were coroded and several alloy bits looked worse for wear. I saw it again later in the year and it did not look any better.

I know my 1100 is no "garage queen" and looks equally rough in places (such as wheels that were like that when I bought bike) but I would never describe my bike as otherwise.

Its just a shame that Trippy let a very nice bike deteriorate so much when he could have prevented it with a bit of effort.

I think there comes a point at which a bike can never be returned to showroom condition if it has been really used. My 1100 was like that when I bought it so I accept that. My PD Classic could perhaps it I spent a lot of time and effort on it.

In my opinion, Trippy's bike could never be described as "good condition" as there is too much corrosion to reverse.

Obviously immaculate ones make serious money, but if you neglect a bike and leave it outside in all weathers with no preventative protection then you mustn't be surprised if it depreciates a bit.

Sounds like just the bike for me then.
Price will have to come down a bit first though. :blast

I couldn't own a pristine bike, I'd have to use it.

Thanks for the update, Sid

Your KTM was a nice bike and after the full valet, it was a marvel

If I wanted a 640, i would have bought yours

Trippys bike could be reversed...................anything can, if you have the time and money and effort

It is a nice kind of bike, with some decent mods.....................airheads though are pretty to look at, but i like my 2 1100s to ride

I read elsewhere that you have only ever seen Jims bike twice, less than four months apart and the last time was over eight months ago

Can a bike really be ruined through neglect in under four months?

It is also apparently now garaged during poor weather only living outside in the summer.

He's behind you !!!!!!

I've seen the bike more recently than that, but I will not comment as Jim is not here to answer .....................
Besides, I'm damn sure he's reading this thread 30 seconds after I post on it

Morning Jim :thumb2

I wonder if Nasty1 is interested in an airhead :augie :D

Sounds about the same kind of condition as the 1100 he sold:augie, the same kind of quality maintenance been done on it and also looking to make the same kind of profit on it :augie...I am sure he can find some other mug rather than this one.

I am happy with my 09 Bonneville ( to be converted to a scrambler if I can get Métisse or such like to do a frame conversion)

I must confess to be being perplexed at all the negative comments toward Trippy, I always thought he was loved dearly here!:nenau Seems like I missed something? :nenau

Hopefully this is not construe (sp?) as rising to the bait..but felt as you went to the trouble to once again drag history to the present and start poking with the pointy stick I though I better oblige with a suitable comment

Cheers

Adie

it hits a raw nerve when you see rubbish been described as a thing of desire...and the price! that amount will buy a lot of bike these days

Hardly rubbish but I can see where you are coming from ;)

Airheads are way over-priced for what they are..unless immaculate or very special.

Still, keeps the scallies from owning one :augie ( be careful what you say in your replies..I have access to a BIG red button :D)

Kenny, you keep mentioning your big red button :eek Is there something you're trying to tell us? :ymca or is it purely a "sex" thing
