Hi all

1 week proud owner of a gs1150, I have borrowed a friend's gs1200 before and noticed the air intake on acceleration on the 1150 is a fair bit louder? I took off the air filter cover half expecting a K&N filter or the like, but standard one is in there. This usual?

Cheers

I reckon the 2002 model I've bought recently is far louder in the induction department than the 2000 model I used to have, even though my old one had a K&N and they are otherwise monimally identical. In fact it seemed so noisy that I opened up the filter housing expecting to find that there wasn't a filter in there at all! But there was.

I put it down to not remembering my old bike properly but I still have a nagging feeling that it's louder than what might be considered normal.

But you can't expect an 1150 to be as quiet as a 1200 - the 1200 complies with more stringent noise regulations that the 1150 could even dream of passing.

Could easily be a noise that you're not used to.. these bikes make a lot of strange sounds... some more than others.

personally I would whip out the plugs and check the colour.. just to ensure the mixture is about right. If so then forget about it. and wear ear plugs.

I think I may have inadvertently found the cause of my excess induction noise. I've started a servoectomy this evening and when removing the air intake snorkel to get access to one of the servo mounting bolts I found that the intake wasn't 'engaged' with the air box - it was just resting against it.

I've now re-fitted it properly but can't test the effect, what with having no brakes.......

Anyway, it may be worth checking on your bike that the snorkel is fitted properly otherwise there's bound to be an increase in induction noise.

Yeh, Yeh, Yeh.... Company bikes, beggers cant be chosers etc...:augie

Still, got the right bike now though!:thumb
