When I'm slowing down or the bike is idlying there is aloud rattle from the right hand pot. tappets need doing thinks I-On investigation the rattle is coming from the right (offside) throttle body.

If I put my finger on the cam / cable thingy on the back of it, all goes quiet. Bikes recently been balanced
Anybody got any any cures

A friend of mine with his 96 1100GS eventually found that the rattle was in fact the brass bushing worn out. He, after careful deliberation, decided to purchase a new throttle body.

The reasoning was that the cost of refurbishing was about 80% of the new whole throttle body. The upside was that the whole body is new and he will have another 160,000 Klm's at least before it goes again.

One of the problems he encountered as it got worse, was the inability to idle correctly, or very well at all in fact, and, we think it was contributing to the surging he was unable to cure, until the new throttle body was in place.

He has since considered refurbishing his old one after pulling it to pieces but I'm not sure whether he will.

After going through the problems with him, I, when it becomes my turn, will seriously consider total replacement like he did.

This is quite a common problem apparently,

I have a mate who was Foreman Mechanic at a Plod Vehicle Maintenance unit who told me a few years ago about this.

I'd never heard of it till he mentioned it.........seems to affect high milers mostly :(
