Riding along quite happily on my 126,000 mile 2001 1150 today and suddenly the bike starts surging badly, slowed down only to find it was only running on 1 cylinder. So suspecting that the throttle cable had jumped out i pulled over to inspect only to find all was as it should be.

Further inspection found that the throttle cable was freely able to move around the suspect side, the return spring was loose. Took the throttle body off at the side of the road only to find that the spring had broken!

So, limped the bike back to base (a bit exciting as it would only really pull from 4k revs onwards). Proceeded to find a replacement spring... Bmw sell the throttle body only! ouch!!!! so Motorworks (thank you very much guys) managed to find a second hand spring for me and my postie should arrive with it tomorrow.

Have basterdised the old spring so that i can still use the bike until tomorrow. however this leads me to the question of how to get the new spring on ..... any ideas of how to get the throttle body apart?
