Down to Syria and Jordan is straightforward and no carnet required (at least when I did it earlier this year).

Egypt is reportedly a real hassle (and some feel not worth it).

You don't need to wait for Paul MCGowan as the RAC site (or was it HUBB?) explains how to calculate the carnet for Egypt. It's not as much as an earlier correspondent worked out...but it is a few hundred ££!

Good luck

Oman/UAE

Ex-pats from the Gulf tend to drive/return to europe via Oman/UAE/KSA (Saudi)/Jordan/Syria

I live in Oman, and there should be no problems in the lower half of the gulf, getting through Saudi will be your only challenge.

You can probably get your bike put on a boat in the UAE, and off-load in Pakistan; But I have never done this.

There are BMW bike dealerships in Dubai-UAE, and Muscat-Oman - should you need parts/specalist help. Tyres are however are very difficult to find....

PM me if you need more gulf specific info

Good luck
