Ticks over smooth, but doesn't Rev clean - Pops and Bangs 2004 Model GS1200

Yep got them from there I think... though it was a badged website... £55 each, I also ordered a couple of Spark Plugs just in case it's them...
Seems odd that they are both dead and that the Bike still runs! I am wondering if its more the wiring loom rather than the Coils, but if its a common item then let's see if it sorts it and it fires on the Mains when replaced...

Did just take a little video of unplugging one while running... no change in tone at all.

When one or both of my primary coils were packing up it would start fine and tickover but wouldn't excelerate properly using more than about a third throttle. I could still coax it up to 70-80 mph. I was in France and managed another 1,000 miles or so like this. Got home and replaced the primary coils and it ran perfectly again.

Hi Steptoe, so as suggested I just disconnected the lower secondary coils on both side, via the connector plugs and tried to start the Bike, it wouldn't run or start at all without these connected.
I re-connected one secondary back up - it fired up on that side, same on the other side... ran on that side... with both secondary coils connected Bike fired up fine.

Does that indicate that both Main coils are shot?
Meaning I will need replacement Main coils.... x2
I disconnected the Main Coils via the plugs and the Engine runs on Secondarys and re-plugging them in doesn't seem to make any difference!

By Main coils, I'm assuming you mean the ones that go into the Cylinder head from the outside Centre Side of each bike? (see diagram attached)
The lower ones being the Secondary ones? ( which I can now get at due to the Bull Bar removal )

Thanks again .....
Well done, you’ve found the problem 👍 both main coils have failed, join the club, I get 1-2 bikes a month with the same problems, either one has failed or both

Yep, That was it .... bad Main Coils...
I purchased Borg Warner replacements from Autodoc online - arrived today at £55 each.

Pulled the old ones, pushed in the new ones... Boom, fired up a treat, revs well, sounds normal again... needs a good test ride later but 100% better.
I bought a couple of new plugs so will stick them in.... can only improve now.

Engine sounds strong. The old Coils seem to be starting to break down... couple of pics attached.. check yours!
Thanks again to @Steptoe for his and others on this posts Guidance.

Worth the subscription money alone to this great Forum!
Now onto the broken ABS - planning to tape up the light and see if I can get it through its MOT.

Also have a broken Engine Mounting Bolt to deal with...
