Tight squeeze

Got chance of a small workshop to work on the bike (big enough for my needs and with electric,).
Slight problem is the only acsess is through a 2 foot 9" door way, maximum width I,ve got is 32"(0err misses) allowing for the frame rebate, door opens out and almost folds right back.
my bike (1150gs with hand guards) is almost 36" wide in,it, I think.
but was thinking with a bit of manovering with the handlebars from side to side would she fit

Car,nt just try it coz I,ll have to alter a fence first to get the bike there, but dont want to if it aint gona fit.

Any body tried pushing big things through little door holes

Answers on a postcard please....

Don't worry about the bars, you can get them through -

it's the width of the engine, which you can't manouvre, that matters

I,ve got H + B bars on to, never really thought of that,

Once you'd got it in, could you turn it around to get it out again???

Pulling the pigs out backwards is much more difficult that it sounds- though you could buy a turntrolley as long as the workshop space is as wide as the bike is long.

Yep, its about 3meters square so was thinking of a turntable thinigy

The strightforward turntables are £48 from Motorworks www.motorworks.com ACA23100 but more useful for shuffling the bike around in a limited space is ACA23100 (Motoboy motorcycle mover). The Motorworks model's bed is a bit fiddly given the large footprint of the BMW centrestand - there is another version that I have seen on the internet and in Williams' showroom that looks to be larger and easier to use

i can get you a large turntable bearing for £15 - 12" square mounting surface, takes 500kg, only a couple of mm thick -

Workshop door

My workshop has a door opening of 80cm which is 31.5" and I could JUST get an 1150GS through and also now my 1200GS -with a squeeze. So if my maths are right you ought to be OK. Both had/have standard BMW engine protector bars. The rocker covers seem to be the widest point - so if you are really tight a cut out of the door frame just at that point should be easy, but I don't think essential. Good luck, Brian (If I am going away I lock on the panniers - then it will NOT come out.)
